Abstract: The Ahenemma Mpaboa or royal sandals are the second most valuable artifact in the Asante royal regalia that define the authority of a chief in the Asante Kingdom of Ghana. Unfortunately, little is known of the Ahenemma Mpaboa as an important cultural symbol that defines royalty in the Asante Kingdom. Therefore, this ethnographic study under the qualitative research approach was carried out to investigate the history, philosophy, purpose, types and socio-cultural relevance of the Ahenemma Mpaboa in the Asante community. Semi-structured interviews and observation were the main data collection instruments that were analysed using the qualitative thematic analysis. The data were garnered from Abrempong, Mfekutire, chiefs, elders, royal attendants, members of the royal households as well as vendors and craftsmen of the Ahenemma Mpaboa. The Ahenemma Mpaboa’s origin is tied to a historical event that happened to Nana Nketia Tim Abamoo, Queen mother to the first Asantehene, Nana Osei Tutu I. The types, colours, shapes and designs of the Ahenemma Mpaboa are symbolic reflections of the accepted cultural values in the Asante Kingdom that play significant socio-cultural roles in the community. The study contends that there is a strong symbolic connection between the Ahenemma Mpaboa and the chiefs of the Asante. It is a powerful regalia of the Asantes that exemplifies their philosophy and worldview while projecting their religious, sociocultural and political structure. The study recommends the development of a robust digital archiving system on Asante stool regalia to serve as a hub for cultural education for both domestic and international tourists.

Abstract: The article presents results of the analysis of the conceptions and uses of the social division of labour by the statistical classification schemes and by the social sciences. The general hypothesis pursued is that the social division of labour is used as an explanatory principle and as a basis for legitimation of the social structures. These uses encompass both the current statistical classification schemes and the social sciences involved. In addition to the introduction, a second item discusses the origins and meanings of the social division of labour for the social sciences and its relations with theoretical problems such as the multidimensionality of social structures. Next, the synthesis of the conception and uses of the social division of labour by the main statistical classification schemes in vogue is presented. The high degree of redundancy of statistical classifications is exposed below, particularly with regard to occupations and status in employment. The categories of managers are particularly examined as the main empirical reference. The next item presents the results of the examination of the overlapping of categories linked management with the condition of the employer and the overvaluation of the amount of schooling. Finally, the last item discusses general issues related to the uses of the social division of labour and its limits and relationships with theoretical foundations of the social sciences.

Abstract: People's pursuit of beauty is becoming more and more fierce, and the development of the medical beauty industry has also caused a boom. In the process of its development, the development of China's medical beauty industry is still in the exploratory stage. This unconstrained rapid development also hides some chaos in the industry. The lack of humanistic oral medicine students will contribute to the instability of this industry. Therefore, the curriculum of oral medicine students is particularly important. Taking non-medical aesthetics as an example, this paper discusses a series of reflections caused by the current non-medical aesthetics from the history of the development of oral aesthetics and the current situation of China's oral aesthetic industry. This article further elaborates on the concept of modern oral medicine education. From the perspective of stomatology students at different levels, such as junior college students, undergraduates, master's and doctoral students, etc., they are speculated, and then the social significance of humanistic ideological cultivation of oral medicine students under the rapid development of oral aesthetics is clarified. Carrying out oral medicine aesthetics courses and integrating them into the curriculum can not only improve the aesthetic literacy of oral medicine students, but also lead China's oral beauty industry to develop in a positive direction.

Abstract: Training students’ innovative abilities has become a basic mode of colleges’ talent cultivation, and college students who join the practical and innovative team can receive some basic training and lay a foundation for their growth. The author analyzes causes of the Japan’s winning of the Nobel Prize from the five elements of “target, personnel, positioning, power, and plan” constructed by the team. The purpose is to enable the team of practical innovation students in private colleges to forge ahead and cultivate internationally competitive talents needed to build an innovative country. The results show that: “shortage of resources and emphasis on education; focus on inheritance and teamwork; attaching importance to science and technology as solid foundation of the country; free scientific research and avoidance of interference; consolidation of the foundation and rise with accumulated strength” are factors that keep Japan winning the Nobel Prize one after another. Drawing on Japan’s successful experience in scientific and technological innovation, the author explored five aspects in the construction of practical innovation student team in Wanjiang University of Technology in five aspects “recognition of oneself and full play of strengths; flexible teaching with various methods and inheritance; focus on application and reliable work; clear responsibility and hierarchical management; continuous communication and improvement.” The preliminary exploration proves that these team building measures are in line with the reality of private universities, and are well received by the board of directors, tutors and students.

Abstract: The Akan are historically an important ethnic group in Ghana who have beliefs on wide range of practices including orthopaedic therapy. The treatment is referred to in indigenous circles as ‘bone setting’. It is a specialised branch of traditional medicine which is quite popular among the Akan in Ghana. Unfortunately, most studies on the subject have focused on benefits of the treatment without placing premium on the philosophy that produced those results. The study seeks to examine the belief systems associated with indigenous orthopaedic therapy among the Akan of Ghana and also investigate the extent to which the belief systems have influenced the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of indigenous orthopaedic therapy. The study is qualitative and the Case study approach was adopted. The population for the study comprises the orthopaedic centres in the Akan Regions of Ghana, patients and cured patients from the selected indigenous orthopaedic centres, Western Medical Practitioners associated with the centres and knowledgeable people on the subject in the communities visited. Purposive sampling procedure was adopted for this study. Observation, and interview were used to collect data from the centres visited. The study revealed that the Akan belief informs the therapists’ choices of tools and materials for their therapeutic processes. Their mode of diagnosis and treatment are also influenced largely by this belief. These processes are approached from two levels; the spiritual and the physical. Spiritually, they deal with the spirit that caused the bone injury and physically use various substances to treat the injury. The indigenous practice therefore makes room for rehabilitation of cured patients in order to address all social and psychological imbalances the injury brings to the cured patients.
