Abstract: “Social transformations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic”: this is the subject of this study, a subject that continues to raise debates and reflections in all corners of the world; because the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected human societies in their most different sectors, but has brought opportunities to build new bonds - bonds that renew the sense of an existence that is no longer possible as in the more recent past. The objective of this study is, therefore, to map the transformations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic in Mozambique in the fields of education, transport, health, economics and in the social sector; showing, in the final analysis, that the lived emergency leads man to confront the essential of existence and with what, although not necessarily negative, he can put aside. To ensure this elaboration, the method of reviewing the literature on the subject under study was followed, which has a rich scientific production around the world. As for the conclusion, this study points out that our habits of life in different fields need to be rethought to promote the resumption of activities in the post-COVID-19 period. To this end, complex challenges must be faced, including that of the reorganization of education, transport, health, economics and social sector with short-term interventions, but also of a more structural nature.

Abstract: This study investigated the effective of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy (MBSRT) in managing adolescents with somatic symptom disorder in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. Three research questions were raised to guide the study and three corresponding hypotheses were formulated, which were all tested at 0.05 level of significance. The pre-test, post-test, control group, experimental design was adopted for the study. The population of the study is three thousand, five hundred and sixty-one (3,561) students, which comprised all students in Senior Secondary Class Two (SS2) from the twenty public secondary schools in Ika North East Local Government Area. A sample size of thirty-three (33) students, made up of fourteen (14) males and nineteen (19) females reporting somatic symptom disorder were selected from two schools using the multi-stage random sampling technique. The research instrument titled “Adolescents Somatic Symptom Scale” (ASSS) was adapted and modified for use by the researcher. Two test experts of Measurement and Evaluation revalidated this instrument. The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha reliability method to test the consistency of the test items and a reliability coefficient of 0.70 was obtained. The instrument was administered to the students as a pre-test and thirty-three (33) students who evidenced somatic disorder in the two schools were randomly assigned for treatment to experimental group A (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy), and B (Control Group). The data collected were analyzed, using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics of paired t-test sample, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Two Way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The findings of the study revealed that, there is a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test of somatic symptoms disorder scores of in-school adolescents exposed to MBSRT and also, no significant interaction effect on treatment by socioeconomic status. Based on the findings, the study recommends among others, that counselling psychologists should introduce, promote and encourage Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy in all secondary schools as an effective counselling therapy for adolescents.

Abstract: Introduction: Albinism is an inherited genetic disorder that reduces the amount of melanin that forms in the skin, hair, and/or eyes. Albinism is one of the most common causes of visual impairment in children in the United States. The aim of this study was to (1) gain overall insight into the music learning of three brothers with albinism and (2) investigate how the teacher’s proficiency and parents’ perceptions of children’s visual impairment contribute to their learning outcomes. Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted with a family of three albino brothers as the unit of analysis. The mother’s and instrumental teachers’ qualitative data were also used for triangulation purposes. The interview questions enabled an analysis of comparable numerical data and subjectively perceived experiences and opinions. A complete observation was also conducted for methodological triangulation. Results: The three brothers rated the visual approach as the most effective. The albino students preferred to use enlarged scores, positioning the music score close to the student, and additional lighting. Hong Kong has prolonged discrimination against albino families. Teacher’s ignorance of albinism and visual impairment means that they fail to provide appropriate special education opportunities for students. Discussion: The data from this study revealed that the three albino children had no sensory compensation, as they had never received special training in how to promote their non-visual senses. Parents with albino children are afraid of stigmatization due to prolonged discrimination and labeling from outsiders. This study also shows that teacher development generally lacks the elements of teaching visually impaired students. Implications for practitioners: This study improves our understanding of music teaching pedagogies for visually impaired children and summarizes the challenges in terms of the physical and social settings that albino learners of music and their parents face.

Abstract: Haiti is facing an unprecedented crisis that affects all institutions and all actors in social life. This article aims to address the consequences of this situation on the struggle of women and the feminist movement in Haiti. The impact of this unique circumstance on women's rights is illustrated through three key sub-themes of the fight for equality in Haiti: the political aspect, the fight against violence against women and the institutionalization of gender. These different themes had known a certain timid but tangible progress. In terms of women's political participation, the 30% quota set out in the Constitution and in the electoral decree during the last elections had enabled leaders to question the need for more women and even the emergence of women in structures traditionally controlled by men. A mechanism for the holistic management of violence files had been put in place and gender was involved in the reflection on public policies, although partially implemented. In the context of this article, apart from the data collected from the executives of the ministry in charge of gender equality, we have used the content analysis of articles and reports to clearly understand the impact of the context on the achievements of the feminist movement.
